About Us

Youable Emotional Health's mission is to help you, your children, and your family back on the path toward emotionally healthy lives. We know what we’re doing: With more than 40 years in operation, our 70-plus staff members in Richfield, Brooklyn Center, and Hopkins provide comprehensive mental health therapy to more than 20,000 families each year.

Since 1970, Youable has provided essential emotional health services to children, families, and individuals in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. As a recognized community leader, we help people overcome issues such as mental health concerns, emotional and behavioral challenges, isolation, addiction, child abuse and neglect, physical and sexual abuse, and troubles with parenting and relationships.

What Makes Us Different

In 1970, a group of parents realized that their children weren’t getting the mental health support they needed; they decided to do something about it. From that need, Storefront Youth Action was born, and in 2023 we renamed ourselves Youable.

Over the years we learned that mental health is a continuum — with negative developmental, relational, or life-altering situations on the one end and everyday emotional health hurdles on the other — and we decided to serve the full spectrum, with a special focus on emotional health. We saw that if you have a healthy emotional base, the rest of the continuum is easier to deal with.

As we learned more, we expanded to serve not only children, but families, couples, and individuals, too. We’ve added three more locations and work directly with dozens of schools throughout the metro area. Our adult services grow every year. Our clinicians recommend and refer to different programs within our organization to build the best possible support system for you. But with all these new additions, our core idea has never changed: That everyone has the ability to build and maintain themselves from the inside, able to develop resilience to live their life with purpose. We all just need some help doing that sometimes.

Who We Serve

To us, empowering people of all ages includes all socioeconomic backgrounds as well. It's an added stress that at this time of critical need for emotional and mental health support, there are significant issues with access to services and insurance coverage. To help, we work with all insurances and offer a sliding-scale option to those who need it.
