ALC- PLUS
Youable Emotional Health works with Hennepin County secondary school districts' students who are at-risk for out-of-home placement, not enrolled at school, or have a history of low attendance or engagement to provide case coordination, address crisis management, facilitate goals for high school credits, and college and career planning for eligible students through the Alternative Learning Center (ALC) Plus program.
What and who is the program for?
The Plus program is available for individuals ages 14 - 24, who are Hennepin County secondary school districts' students involved with Hennepin County Health and Human Services (HHS); or Hennepin County Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) for truancy and/or delinquency; or referred through the Hennepin County Attorney's Office (HCAO) Truancy Office who:
● Are not enrolled in school, or
● Have a history of poor attendance, and/or
● Have low school engagement, and/or
● Have identified behavioral concerns, and/or
● May be at risk of out-of-home placement.
What are the goals of the Plus program?
Youable will provide case coordination, address crisis management, facilitate goals for high school credits, and college and career planning for individuals in the Plus program. Including mental and chemical health, correctional, and social supports to meet the needs of students and their families in a school setting. Our team will conduct a wide array of services which meet the various needs of Plus students who have county-involvement, are disengaged from school and/or behind on credits to graduate; we will monitor attendance, provide on-site mental health services, refer to community support services to meet needs such as food, clothing, and shelter, provide soft job skills training, and develop an individual development plan that outlines college and/or career pathways after graduating high school.
